Hi, I'm Alan Arthur, CIO for Goulburn-Murray Water

Alan has a technology degree, 25 years of experience working in IT, and 18 years in management roles. For the past 16 years, Alan has specialised in the hospitality/leisure/tourism industry and has recently moved into the government utility sector. Taking on the CIO role at GMW, Alan sits on the executive team, and leads a team of 60+ IT staff.  Goulburn-Murray Water is Australia's largest rural water corporation managing around 70% of Victoria's stored water resources, around 50% of Victoria's underground water supplies and Australia's largest irrigation delivery network. GMW is in the midst of delivering the Connections Project on behalf of the State and Federal Governments. The Connections Project is a $2 billion investment in the modernisation of the irrigation infrastructure in the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District delivering water efficiency and water saving outcomes.GMW run the largest SCADA network in the world, with 18,000 sites and over 2 million data points

After LLA was acquired by Merlin Entertainments Group, Alan was offered, and took an interim position with the new parent company. Alan's responsibilities included overseeing the integration of the two companies, as well as the day to day management of the IT teams in the region

Chief Information Officer, responsible for IT & Telecoms at LLA businesses in Australia and Asia - ski resorts, aquariums and treetop walk experiences. Leading a team of 12 IT staff. Promoted in 2008 from CIO of the ski division.

CIO for Australian Alpine Enterprises, a leisure business managing Falls Creek and Mt Hotham Ski Resorts, and two treetop walk attractions. Responsible for IT and telecoms across the group.

After P&O Resorts was acquired by Voyages, Alan took on a role as a Regional IT&T Manager responsible for resorts across two states, including Ayers Rock Resort, a huge leisure site incorporating 7 hotels, an airport, multiple food & beverage outlets and several retail outlets including a supermarket.
